" Cowgirl Minnie" by Ryan Scheer

In his continued pursuit of exploring ways to expand his photography, Ryan has been experimenting with hand coloring prints of his tintype/wet plate collodion work. In this piece, "Cowgirl Minnie", he wanted to bring a pop to the character itself. Mounted on wood panel, the image is pasted on, painted, distressed and colored on the edges, then sealed in a resin coat that allows the image to react to light in a stronger way. This work pays homage to the colors used in street art and to a character created by his Great Grandfather, Walt Disney.
