"Big Boots to Fill" by Ryan Scheer

In his continued pursuit of exploring ways to expand his photography, Ryan has been experimenting with hand coloring prints of his tintype/wet plate collodion work. In this piece, "Big Boots to Fill", he wanted to bring a pop to the item itself. Mounted on wood panel, the image is pasted on, painted, distressed and colored on the edges, then sealed in a resin coat that allows the image to react to light in a stronger way. This work pays homage to the colors used in street art and features the boots his great grandfather, Walt Disney, wore when he was playing cowboy.
