"6 Shooter" by Ryan Scheer

Departing from his "pure photography" roots, Ryan has began to experiment with alternative techniques to bring his imagery alive. In "6 Shooter", Ryan pays homage to his great grandfather, Walt Disney, of whom's legacy has been his biggest creative inspiration. Using a photograph taking of a toy Mickey from the 80's, Ryan paints the backdrop and pastes the photographs printed on thin Japanese Washi paper, which allows for the background colors to bleed through. Intentionally using distressed canvas paired with a tightly cropped image, he puts his own spin on how pop culture icons are viewed.
